Hyderabad: A video of a group of artists performing a patriotic song “Jai Ho India” on an American talent show is being widely shared on social media.

A Facebook user shared the video and wrote, “This dance on India’s patriotic song in a talent show in America will give you goosebumps.” (Translated)

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the Hindi song has been digitally inserted into the video.

We performed a reverse image search of the video’s keyframe and found the extended version of the same video uploaded on YouTube. The viral clip in the video appears at the 0.36-minute mark and ends at 3.10. However, we found that the group does not perform a Hindi song. The video is titled “ZURCORAH Aerial Dance Group GOLDEN BUZZER America’s Got Talent 2018.”

Taking a cue from this, we ran a keyword search and found a 4.15-minute-long video uploaded by the verified page of America’s Got Talent on 5 August 2020. At no point did we see the group perform a Hindi song. According to the caption, the performance by the dance group Zurcaroh was jaw-dropping and worthy of the golden buzzer.

Finally, we also found the video published by a verified YouTube Channel, Talent Recap. In this video, we also did not see the group performing to a Hindi song. As per the caption, the video shows the second-most viral audition by Zurcaroh—an acrobatic show group.

It is evident that the viral video showing a group perform to a patriotic Hindi song is doctored. Hence, we conclude that the claim is false.
