Is this man with Rahul Gandhi the producer of BBC documentary on PM Modi?

Hyderabad: A BBC documentary, ‘India: The Modi Question,’ triggered a massive row, nationally and internationally. The documentary examines the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Gujarat riots of 2022. The Indian government blocked it from streaming in India and described it as a “propaganda piece designed to push a discredited narrative.”

In response to a question on the documentary during a press briefing, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, in a veiled attack on MP Modi, said the “truth always comes out.”

Now, a photo of Rahul Gandhi standing alongside two men is doing the rounds with the claim that he met with the producer of the BBC documentary six months ago.

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the two men standing with Rahul Gandhi are not the producers of the BBC documentary.

On performing a reverse image search of the photo, we found it in a Hindustan Times article from 24 May 2022. It said Rahul Gandhi had met Britain’s Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn in London. According to the description, the photo shows Rahul Gandhi with Jeremy Corbyn and Sam Pitroda.

The Indian Overseas Congress had tweeted the photo and identified one of the men with Mr. Gandhi as Sam Pitroda, the chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress.

Mr. Pitrdoa also took to Twitter to clarify that he and Rahul Gandhi were standing with British politician Jeremy Corbyn.

It is evident that the photo doesn’t show Rahul Gandhi with the producer of the BBC documentary on PM Modi. Hence, we conclude that the claim is false.
