Chittoor: Fire breaks out at Amara Raja plant; 200 workers rescued

Chittoor: A massive fire broke out at a battery manufacturing plant in Amara Raja Growth Corridor in Yadamari Mandal, Mordhanapalle in Chittoor district on Monday night. No casualties were reported.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire might have been caused due to short circuit. Spread over 175 acres of land, the inverter manufacturing unit housed 250 workers when the fire broke out. All the workers were evacuated safely. Fire tenders were rushed to the plant to douse the flames. A case has been registered, and the police are yet to ascertain the cause.

A similar incident in 2017:

A similar incident occurred in January 2017 in the Mangal Industry of Amara Raja group at Petamitta village, of Chittoor district. Property worth Rs 20 crore was damaged in the fire. Flames emanated from the control panel in the zinch segment of the factory. Over 300 workers, who were inside the factory, were safely rescued.
