TSPSC papers leak: Congress leaders put under house arrest

Congress leaders under house arrest in Telangana.

Hyderabad: Police have placed some Congress leaders under house arrest to avoid any untoward incidents in view of TPCC Chief Revanth Reddy's appearance before the Special Investigation Team probing the TSPSC papers leak case.

Revanth Reddy is to appear before the SIT at 11 am to provide evidence supporting the allegations he made regarding the paper leak.

Earlier Revanth Reddy had alleged that about 100 people from Mallial Mandal, Jagtial district, bagged 103 marks each. The SIT took his comments seriously and asked him to provide evidence. He also claimed that KTR's PA Tirupati was involved in the paper leak.

Welcoming the notices issued, Revanth Reddy said that he will provide an explanation to the SIT. He also alleged that the notices were issued because SIT officer Srinivas is KTR’s brother-in-law, and the two are friends. He calls it a political move and demanded that KTR also receive similar notices. If not, he has threatened to approach the High Court.

On Thursday morning, the Congress leaders condemned the house arrest, as they had planned to go along with Revanth Reddy. Senior Congress leaders demanded the release of the leaders immediately.

Revanth Reddy posted a message on Twitter saying that the Telangana Chief Minister KCR is trying to supress the protests of the opposition.

"We planned to go along with our leader Revanth Reddy, but the police arrested us at our residence. The ruling BRS are trying to mislead the case, issuing notices to Congress leaders", said a Congress leader.

"I am house arrested today, and all our Congress leaders. This signifies that there is only a police rule in Telangana. I demand to release all the leaders immediately," said a Congress leader Mallu Ravi in a video.

Revanth Reddy meets Governor, asks to investigate KTR

TPCC president Revanth Reddy requested the Governor Tamilisai Sounderarajan to allow Minister KTR to be investigated in the TSPSC paper leak case. He, along with several Congress leaders, met Governor, and complained about the irregularities in the paper leak. "The employees of KTR's department were the key players in the paper leak and KTR should be held responsible for this," said Reddy. He accused them of stealing the paper and selling it for crores and messing with the lives of lakhs of unemployed.

Revanth Reddy said that they do not have faith in the SIT set up by the government in the TSPSC paper lake case and have sought permission from the Governor for a transparent investigation.
