World Bank team in Andhra, assures support for next 25 years

The team visited Vanukuru village in Krishna district, observed the PHC services at Dr YSR village health clinic

Country Director for India, World Bank, Auguste Tano Kouame visit to Andhra Pradesh school

Amaravati: A delegation from the World Bank met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and reviewed the progress of projects being implemented with its support. The team assured their support to the state in achieving its mission and vision and providing all possible assistance to the state for the next 25 years.

The delegation was led by Auguste Tano Kouame, the country director for India. The team visited Vanukuru village under Penamaluru mandal in Krishna district and observed the primary health care services delivered by Dr YSR village health clinic at Vanukuru village.

Auguste Tano Kouamé congratulated Jagan Mohan Reddy for setting an example in governance, education, and medical practices. “The World Bank is funding 22 states, and they can take Andhra Pradesh as an example,” he said.

“I witnessed first hand focus on health and education. Growth and higher public revenue will help Andhra sustain future investments in these sectors,” he tweeted.

Auguste Tano Kouame and his team observed the live teleconsultation for women at a village clinic by a telemedicine hub specialist doctor.

The team also observed the family doctor programme conducted by the medical officer and 104 services at Vanukuru village and expressed their satisfaction about the health care deliverables at the village-level through YSR village health clinics.

They interacted with the beneficiaries directly. They also observed the diagnostic tests conducted at the village health clinic.
