Hyderabad: If you are not living under a rock, you know how AI has shaken the whole world with its arrival.

For those who don’t know, AI is a machine’s ability to perform cognitive functions which are normally performed by human beings like thinking, reasoning, and intuition.

This viral sensation (AI) is transforming our everyday life. Since AIs like Chat-GPT entered the chat, it has changed the way we think and work. Most people are heavily reliant on AI software like college students, content creators, and software developers.

All in all, people who are well aware and know their way around tech, use AI tools. Some for good, some for bad but it's being used consistently. Do you think that the consistent use of AI is impacting people's creativity and affecting their work?

Let us dig deep into how AI is impacting people’s creativity and their work.

Who is using AI and why?

Students

Students use AI tools like Chat-GPT, Quillbot, ConchAI, etc. for their assignments and presentations. Students enter their queries and chat-GPT presents them with answers in a matter of seconds. QuillBot is used to rephrase information, while ConchAI is used to check for plagiarism.

AI has made it easy for students to be less stressed about their assignments. It has made them take their assignments sparingly. Students do not have to put enough effort, research, and hard work into their assignments which could hurt their performance as they are highly reliant on AI tools and lack the knowledge and understanding of core concepts.

Software developers

Some Software developers tend to use AI for assistance in coding when they are stuck in a situation they are finding hard to get out of, while others are completely reliant on AI for the code.

The human mind possesses creativity and innovation which AI can not replicate in any way or form. Humans can brainstorm together which gives birth to many creative and innovative ideas and also can be able to expertise in what they learn, meaning they can analyze, adapt and problem-solve when needed, which again cannot be replicated by AI.

Content writers/Copywriters

It is quintessential for content writers to do their research and write the information gained in a way that attracts readers. Content writers or copywriters take the help of AI tools when they face creative blocks.

After putting in a query, AI tools spurt out information in a matter of seconds. AI can give decent answers to their queries but still needs a little bit of editing to make the best out of it and it can also give plagiarized content which can again be a bit of a hassle for the writer and could raise legal issues.

*Note: These aren’t the only people using it; there are people from other fields also using it. These are just some of the most common users of AI tools.

Benefits Of AI

Saves Time and Effort:

Many tedious tasks like maintaining records, setting up meetings and reminders in calendars, automated messages, etc. are taken care of by AI tools that save us time to focus on other important tasks.

Reduction in Human Errors

In matters of huge data, humans are more likely to make errors, while AI is trained through data which makes it less prone to errors.

Pattern Identification

AI can identify patterns that a human eye can miss making it beneficial for the user like a data scientist and data analyst to rely on.

Unbiased Decisions

Humans in some capacity are biased in making decisions, while on the other hand, AI is a machine with no opinions or emotions of its own, making it perfect to make unbiased decisions.

Limitations of AI

Language & Sentence formation Matters

The user needs to give proper instructions to AI for it to be able to form an answer that meets the user’s needs. If they fail to do so, it can result in getting unwanted information.

Costly

If you want to incorporate AI tools and automate some tasks in your business, it is cost-heavy to do so.

Not Up-to-date

AI tools like Chat-GPT are not updated on the latest events and current affairs. This makes it difficult for it to answer questions about the latest turn of events as it has no information regarding it.

Needs to be fed huge data

AI tools need to be fed huge amounts of data to make informed decisions and solve users’ queries which in turn also requires a lot of resources.

Is AI as accurate as CLAIMED to be?

To compete with Chat-GPT, AI-dominant Google came out with an answer of its own with `BARD’ which was launched on 21st March 2023. After generating a wrong answer for a user’s query, Google faced a $100 billion loss.

When BARD was asked: “What discoveries from James Webb Telescope, can I tell my 9-year-old?” it gave several suggestions. Out of which, one was inaccurate. It’s stated that JWST (James Webb Space Telescope) took the first picture of exoplanets which is inaccurate because it was taken by the European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope (VLT). This led to a sum of losses for Google. This went on to prove that AI isn’t as accurate as it is claimed to be.

Can AI lead to legal Issues?

The implications of AI on employment, its negative impact on society, and the fact that it could be used for harmful purposes should be considered by law. AI has to be fed huge amounts of data for it to produce viable results.

The privacy and security of such data come into question. So, laws protecting the rights of these data owners need to be in place. As a whole, for the future of AI, law enforcement needs to be in place.

Conclusion

At this point, our lives revolve around AI, which if not used correctly can tamper with your creativity and thinking abilities. Even if you use AI for creative purposes, it still needs a human touch for it to be unique and not robotic.

Also for AI to generate accurate and creative responses, the user is needed to prompt the sentence in a way that the AI can understand. Using AI and putting your personal touch to it could work wonders if used sparingly and wisely.
